Israel's 41st Anniversary of Independence Coin
The Land of Israel is said to be blessed in everything. Abundant in resources, bathed in sun and moonlight, the Land not short of anything. The gazelle, a symbol of the Land's pleasantness. ("My beloved is like a gazelle" Song of Songs 2:9)
Description of the Coin
A gazelle standing amongst several trees symbolizing Israel's flora and fauna. The inscription, "... and I shall give thee a pleasant land" (Jeremiah 3.19) in Hebrew and English.
The denomination "1, 2, or 10" and the State Emblem in the center. The date "1989/5749" with "New Sheqel" or "New Sheqalim" in Hebrew and English, "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic.
The uncirculated coins are mintmarked with a 6 pointed star at the bottom of the coin. The proof coins are mintmarked with a Hebrew 'mem'.

Uncirculated: A Mint State coin struck on a standard planchet. It will display a matte type finish. A small six pointed "Star of David" mintmark struck on the "Promised Land" coin below the denomination.
Proof: A coin which was made with special care. The coins are struck using polished dies. The planchets are specially selected and polished. The coins exhibit a mirror-like surface in the fields and a frosted appearance on the raised points of the coin. A small Hebrew 'mem' mintmark is struck on the "Promised Land" coin below the denomination.
