Issued by the Bank of Israel to mark the exciting change of the Millennium. A stylized design of the figure 2000, incorporating a Dove and Olive Branch, symbols rooted in the Biblical tradition and the Holy Land, yet which have come to denote peace, all over the world. Let the words of the Prophet Isaiah, inscribed on the coin, "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares", become reality as we usher in a new era of universal peace and harmony among the nations.
Description of the Coin Front The Millennium year 2000 with the inscription, "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares" The "2" resembles a dove and an olive branch appears below. ReverseThe denomination "1, 2 or 10" with the State emblem. The year of issue "5760/1999", the word "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic. An olive branch appears below at the left The proof-like silver coin is mintmarked with a 6 pointed star at the bottom. The proof coins are mintmarked with a Hebrew 'mem'. NIS-New Israel Sheqalim
