"Stars over the Holyland"
Israel's "Biblical Art" Coin Series 1999/5760 The beginning of Monotheism is rooted in the desert of the Holy Land. Throughout the Land of Israel's history, God has continued to interact with humanity through the teachings and blessings of the Prophets. Portrayed on this coin is the lone shepherd, looking towards the stars, symbolizing the divines constant presence in the lives of the faithful. When looking at this coin, it reminds us that the dramatic and inspirational events of the past are just as relevant now, in the era of a new millennium, as they were when they happened here thousands of years ago. The artist used a minimalist technique to express the power of this moment, full of the glory and sanctity of Gods great promise.
