"Mikveh Israel Centenary" 1970/5730
The 22nd Anniversary of the State of Israel. Commemorative coin issued by the Bank of Israel. A 10 Lirot coin that commemorates the hundredth anniversary of the opening of the first agricultural school in Israel "Mikveh Israel."
Description of the Coin Front The image of a plough with inscription in Hebrew, "Centenary of Mikveh Israel." At the bottom, the inscription, "Kol Israel Haverim" (Alliance Israelite Universelle), the group responsible for the founding of the school. The Proof coin is struck with a small Hebrew 'mem' at the right of the plough. Reverse The denomination "10 Israeli Lirot" with a stalk of corn at the left. The school building in the center, with the dates "1870-1970" in Hebrew and English. The word "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic around the rim. The uncirculated coin has been found with a double strike on the reverse. The edge of each coin is inscribed in Hebrew, "Twenty-Second Year of the State of Israel."
