Commemorative issue to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Creation of Norfolk as a Borough in 1736 and the 300th Anniversary of the Original Norfolk Land Grant in 1636.

Coin Description

Front: The Norfolk City Seal in the center of the coin. The seal features a four masted ship over a plough and three sheaves of tobacco. The motto in latin, "ET TERRA ET MARE DIVITIAE TUAE - CRESCAS", The land and sea your wealth and prosperity. Around the rim, "Borough - of - Norfolk - Bicentennial - 1936".

Reverse: From top to bottom, Norfolk's historic silver Mace. In the field, "Norfolk, Virginia Land Grant - 1636 - In God We Trust - Liberty - E. Pluribus Unum". Around the rim, "United States of America - Half Dollar".
