Issued by the Bank of Israel to commemorate the contributions made in the fields of Science by those living in the State of Israel.
Description of the Coin
Front
An image of a tree with a 'Star of David' appearing in the form of a molecular structure. The inscription, "Scientific Achievements in Israel" in Hebrew and English.
Reverse
The denomination of "1, 2 or 10" and the word "Sheqel or Sheqalim" in Hebrew and English, with the State Emblem. "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic and the date 1985/5745.
The uncirculated silver coin is mintmarked with a 6 pointed star at the bottom. The proof coins are mintmarked with a Hebrew 'mem'.

Uncirculated: A Mint State coin struck on a standard planchet. It will display a matte type finish. A small six pointed "Star of David" mintmark struck on the "Science" coin below the denomination.
Proof: A coin which was made with special care. The coins are struck using polished dies. The planchets are specially selected and polished. The coins exhibit a mirror-like surface in the fields and a frosted appearance on the raised points of the coin. A small Hebrew 'mem' mintmark is struck on the "Science" coin below the denomination.
