This coin commemorates the 38th Anniversary of Independence and Israel's Achievements in the Arts. The many cultures brought by immigrants, catalyzed by Israel's unique landscapes, are producing a distinctive expression of the life in Israel, its society and values.
Description of the Coin Front Abstract symbols that represent: Literature, Music, Architecture and Sculpture. The Hebrew letter 'Alef': Literature. A complex shape: Architecture and Sculpture. The pages of an open book with the image of a violin: Music. Reverse The denomination of "1, 2 or 10" and the word "New Sheqel" or "New Sheqalim" in Hebrew and English. The State Emblem at the left of the denomination. The inscription around the rim, "Art in Israel" in Hebrew and English, "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic and the date "1986/5746". The uncirculated silver coin is mintmarked with a 6 pointed star at the top right. The proof coins are mintmarked with a Hebrew 'mem'.
