Israel's 44th Anniversary of Independence Coin
The Knesset is Israel's Legislature, and it's Laws form the basis of the legal system. These Laws have replaced most Turkish and British legislation that existed before the independence. Jewish religious law, the national law of the Jewish people for over 2000 years is a source of interpretation of Knesset Laws. The Religious laws of Jews, Muslims, Druze and Christians, apply to matters of personal status. Laws are subject to judicial interpretation and when necessary, their provisions are supplemented by judicial decisions, first and foremost - by the Supreme Court.
Description of the Coin Front The 'Scales of Justice' over a gate with steps leading to it. The verse "Execute ye judgment and righteousness" (Jeremiah 22,3) in Hebrew and English. Reverse The denomination "1, 2 or 10" from top to bottom with the date "1992/5752" in Hebrew and English around the rim. At the top, the official emblem of the State of Israel. The uncirculated silver coin is mintmarked with a 6 pointed star below the denomination. The proof coins are mintmarked with a Hebrew 'mem'. NIS-New Israel Sheqalim
